Kuldeep Yadav has revealed how wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul has been helping him from behind the stumps. The left-arm spinner has been India’s trump card in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 so far.

Kuldeep Yadav has picked up 9 wickets in his last two outings. In the first Super 4 game for India, he picked up 5 for 25 against Pakistan as the Men in Blue registered a record win of 228 runs. The chinaman spinner starred with the ball on Tuesday (September 12) too when India locked horns against Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 match.

India had their back against the wall after being bowled out for a modest total of 213 runs. However, India managed to turn things around and bowled out Sri Lanka for 172 to win the game by 41 runs. The win also sealed India’s passage to the final of the Asia Cup 2023.

Kuldeep Yadav played a key role in India’s impressive hard-fought win over Sri Lanka. The spinner picked up four wickets to help India win the clash and book a place in the final. And after the game, he credited his teammate and wicketkeeper KL Rahul for one of the wickets.

The spinner was seen pointing towards KL Rahul after he had Sadeera Samarawickrama stumped. After the game, he was asked about the incident by his teammate Suryakumar Yadav. In reply, Kuldeep Yadav said:

“I was pointing towards KL bhai because he advised me to bowl outside off as the ball was spinning a lot. When I stuck to a stump line, it was easy for the batsman. So, I decided to target the 4th-5th stump area, and the ball drifted beautifully.

“It was a well-thought-out plan, and we had employed the same strategy against Shadab Khan yesterday. My intention was to bring the ball back in from outside the off stump. I want to give the credit to KL bhai,” he added.

India will next take on Bangladesh in their next Super 4 game. After that, the Men in Blue will either play Sri Lanka or Pakistan in the final on Sunday (September 17).
