Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav revealed that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma asked him to bowl an additional over during the match against Pakistan. Kuldeep Yadav highlighted that Rohit Sharma’s decision paid off, as he picked up two crucial wickets in that over.

The Rohit Sharma-led team registered a seven-wicket victory over Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14. The Indian bowlers bundled out the opposition for 191, with each of them picking up two wickets, except Shardul Thakur.

Rohit Sharma Told Me To Bowl An Extra Over – Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav stated that Rohit Sharma decided to continue with him after Mohammed Siraj dismissed Babar Azam and ended a promising partnership. The chinaman spinner said that the decision proved successful as he claimed two crucial wickets.

“Rohit bhai told me to bowl an extra over and that worked as Siraj had just got Babar out and broken a good stand. The captain told me to bowl an extra over as the previous one had also gone well (he conceded just one) and I got two out and that made it difficult for them to build the innings again,” Kuldeep Yadav said.

Kuldeep bagged the wickets of Pakistan middle-order batters Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in the 33rd over. The left-arm wrist spinner trapped Shakeel in front of the stumps. Iftikhar failed to read the bowler’s variations, chopping onto the stumps on the last ball.

Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned to the bowling attack for his second spell in the following over. He immediately left his mark with a brilliant off-cutter, dismissing Mohammad Rizwan for 49. He rattled Shadab Khan’s stumps in his second over.

The Men in Blue comfortably chased down the target with over 19 overs to spare, securing their third consecutive victory in the ongoing tournament. Rohit Sharma played a vital role with the bat, scoring 86 runs off 63 balls, including six boundaries and as many sixes.
