Pragyan Ojha picks the players who can replace Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

While speaking to news agency IANS, Pragyan Ojha was asked about the players who can follow the footsteps of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Ojha took the names of Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill who can be the potential replacements of these legends.

"I think there are a lot of players. If you talk about senior players, I am really glad that Rishabh Pant has come back, as he’s someone who has left his mark in Test cricket and the knocks he’s played, I am really looking forward to seeing him come back. Along with him, there are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill," Ojha said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have had brilliant starts to their respective careers and have already shown their talent. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been in the scheme of things for some time now. He suffered a life-threatening accident in December 2022 but has now come back fully fit and is raring to go.

Meanwhile, Pragyan Ojha also praised Dhruv Jurel for a fantastic start to his international career. He was also impressed with the rookie fast bowler Akash Deep, who has played just a solitary Test but impressed by picking up 3 wickets with the new ball.

"These are the players I am really looking forward to. Dhruv Jurel is also a player whose performance and attitude are fearless. I am really glad that all these players have taken the team forward. If we talk about bowling, Akash Deep has been very impressive. I would like to see how these players move forward," he added.

Pragyan Ojha speaks about Gautam Gambhir as head coach

When asked about Gautam Gambhir as India's head coach, Ojha reckoned that Gambhir would bring clarity of thought process and claimed that such clear communication is needed at this level.

"He is a champion of a player. His thoughts will be crystal clear. He will say what he wants to say. Communication will be very straight with a lot of clarity. When you are on national duty, as a player, as a decision-making individual, you need clarity. Gautam Gambhir will give you that," the former left-arm spinner stated.

Gautam Gambhir's stint as India's head coach began with India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. The tour was a mixed bag for the Men in Blue as they won the T20I series but lost the ODI series.

But Gambhir's real test starts from now as India goes into a hectic Test season which consists of 10 Tests against three teams. India will hope to dominate these Tests to continue their qualification for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final which will be played next year.
