Team india are currently playing against Bangladesh in their only warm-up game for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The match is taking place in New York.

India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. The Men in Blue are without Virat Kohli for the game. Rohit confirmed the news at the toss while also revealing that Kohli is missing the game because he linked up with the team just a day before.

Well, Kohli not playing the game is not the only surprise from Team India. The team management sprung a big surprise by sending Sanju Samson to open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma. While Yashasvi Jaiswal was expected to open the innings, the Indian team management has decided otherwise.

The decision is bound to surprise many since Samson didn't open the innings even once in the IPL. On the other hand, Jaiswal opened the innings throughout the competition and scored a century as well although he did struggle to perform consistently. It will be interesting to see who opens the innings with Rohit in the main event. But for the time being, the call has taken many by surprise.

Talking about Samson, the right-handed batsman had a fine outing in IPL 2024. He led Rajasthan Royals from the very front and finished the season as their second-highest run scorer. In 16 games, he scored 531 runs with the help of five fifties. The Kerala star is playing in the World Cup for the very first time in his career and will be hoping to make it a memorable one.
