IND vs ENG: Mark Wood Likely To Miss Three Tests Against India Due To Schedule Clash With ILT20 2024- Reports

England pacer Mark Wood is doubtful for the first three games of the five-match Test series against India in January-Feburary 2024 as per the reports in News 18. The reports have suggested that the fast bowler due to his commitments in ILT20 might miss the first three games. 

Mark Wood recently signed up a contract with Dubai Capitals to play in the second season of the ILT20. It is learned that as a part of the contract the pacer needs to be there. The league will begin on 13th January whereas the Test series against India will be played from 25th January to 11th March. 

If the reports related to Mark Wood missing the first three Tests emerges to be true, it’ll be a big setback for England considering what he did in the Ashes 2023. Also with flat decks expected in India, his express pace would’ve been something that would’ve been very vital for England. 

Mark Wood was one of the main reasons behind England making a staggering return in the Ashes 2023 after being 2-0. The fast bowler troubled the Australian batter with his pace and picked up wickets at crucial junctures, ending with 14 wickets in three games. Not only this but he also contributed equally well with the bat. 

Mark Wood is yet to play a Test in India but he was exceptional in the IPL he played this year. The fast bowler picked 11 wickets in just 4 games including a five-wicket haul. He left the tournament mid-way due to personal commitments. 

IND vs ENG: England to tour India for five-match Test series 

England will travel to India in January. The first game will be played on January 25th in Hyderabad. The second match is scheduled to kick start on 2nd February in Visakhapatnam whereas the third game will be played in Rajkot on 15th February. The final two games will be played on 23rd February and 7th March in Ranchi and Dharamsala respectively. 

The last time England toured India, it was a dreadful outing for them as they faced a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of the hosts. They looked clueless against the Indian spinners and would be hoping for a better show this time.
