Young Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna suffered a quadriceps injury while representing Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy on Friday. Prasidh Krishna’s injury led to his exclusion from the India squad for the first two Tests against England in the five-match series at home.

Prasidh Krishna suffered his injury during the match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He bowled only 14.5 overs in the first innings before leaving the field on Day 1. Unfortunately, PTI reported that he would not participate in the match.

Prasidh Krishna Currently Under The Supervision Of The Karnataka Team

The 27-year-old pacer is currently under the care of the Karnataka team physio. As a BCCI-contracted player, he has the option to join the India A support staff, who are also present in Ahmedabad. The typical recovery time for a quadriceps injury is four to six weeks.

Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut during India’s recent tour of South Africa, which concluded with a 1-1 draw. He delivered below-par performances in both Test matches, securing only two wickets with an average of 65 and a disappointing economy rate of 4.64.

Jasprit Bumrah To Lead India’s Pace Bowling Attack Against England

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan have been named as fast bowlers for the upcoming Test series against England. Mohammed Shami, recovering from an injury, failed to make it to the squad, while Shardul Thakur has been omitted.

The Test series will commence in Hyderabad from January 25-29. The second match will be played in Visakhapatnam from February 2-6. The remaining matches are scheduled for Rajkot (February 15-19), Ranchi (February 23-27), and Dharamsala (March 7-11).

India Squad for first 2 Tests: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.

Prasidh Krishna Has Got The Tools – Rohit Sharma

Speaking at the press conference after the first Test against South Africa, skipper Rohit Sharma backed Prasidh Krishna despite his lackluster debut. Rohit expressed confidence in Prasidh’s ability to excel in Test cricket.

“Look, a little bit inexperienced, of course, but he has got the tools to come out here and play the game. The bowlers that we have back in India, some of them are injured, some of them are not available. So we try to pick the guys who are available and we see the conditions that we are coming up against and try to pick the bowlers based on that,” Rohit said.

“I completely agree that he has not played a lot of cricket, but there are three guys in their team as well who have not played a lot of cricket; they came here and showed what it takes,” the skipper added.

Krishna faced a challenging outing in the T20I series against Australia. The fast bowler recorded the worst bowling figures by an Indian in the shortest format. He concluded with figures of 4-0-68-0 during the third T20I at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
