England National Cricket Team all-rounder Liam Livingstone plucked a stunning catch to dismiss India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma in the 29th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29.
Rohit is playing his 100th international match as captain of the India National Cricket Team. He batted exceptionally well in the match and showcased sheer class.
Despite not getting much support from the other end, Rohit Sharma stood strong on one end and played a wonderful knock. He completed 18000 international runs and became only the fifth Indian player to achieve the feat after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Virat Kohli. He also completed 1000 runs in ODIs in 2023.
Rohit missed out on a well-deserved ton as he was dismissed by leg-spinner Adil Rashid on the fifth ball of the 37th over.
Rohit tried to smash a googly from the leg-spinner over deep mid-wicket but was caught by Liam Livingstone. The English player came running across from the deep, slid, and completed a terrific catch. In the process, he hurt his knee as it got stuck in the outfield.
Livingstone looked in extreme pain after taking the catch and he was immediately attended by the physio. Rohit was back in the dugout after scoring 87 runs off 101 balls, with 10 fours and 3 sixes. This was also the deepest Rohit Sharma innings since January 2020.

Earlier, England won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was quite happy with the decision as he revealed that they were anyways looking forward to batting first. Also, both the teams entered the clash with no changes in their playing XI.
Batting first, Rohit once again provided India with a flying start with his attacking brand of cricket. After the dismissal of Shubman Gill for a low score, Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma in the middle and there were high expectations from the batting greats. However, Kohli looked scratchy and was eventually cleaned up for a 9-ball duck.
Soon Shreyas Iyer also fell for 4 to a short ball, but KL Rahul provided much-needed support to his skipper. Together they batted brilliantly and built a great 91-run partnership in 111 balls.
