Former India pacer Atul Wassan spoke on Jasprit Bumrah after his return from injury in the first T20I match against Ireland on Friday (August 18) at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin and said that the Men in Blue skipper in Ireland tour won’t be able to get to his peak.

Jasprit Bumrah displayed a stunning performance in the first game after coming back from his injury. Bumrah took two wickets and gave away 24 runs in his four-over spell and led the Indian bowling attack.

Before the start of the second innings, rain interrupted the match and India won it by two runs as per the DLS method.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 24 runs from 23 balls, and Ruturaj Gaikwad played a 19-run innings from 16 balls. However, Sansju Samson’s one run led India to victory in the three-game series.

Meanwhile, Atul Wassan showed concern toward Jasprit Bumrah and said that if the pacer pushes himself to reach his best form then he will again get injured.

“I think the back injury is such that the effort he (Bumrah) will put in will be seen. If he is holding himself back, then he is increasing his career. If he gets the same intensity and gets injured again, then whatever he achieved with this action, this injury was bound to happen,” Atul Wassan said as quoted by India.com.

When you are young, you will be injured: Atul Wassan on Jasprit Bumrah

The former pacer added that Jasprit Bumrah will be able to reform himself if he continues to play like he did in the first T20I match which will help him to perform better.

“It’s not possible that a biomechanist can perform such a fast game with such odd actions. When you are young, you will be injured. If you perform such actions after the injury, you will be able to reform yourself. If you reform yourself, you will be able to play better. I want him to come back, but I don’t think that he will get to his peak as we have seen him,” Wassan added.

India will lock horns against Ireland in the second 20-over match of the three-game series on Sunday (August 20th) at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin.
