Ireland batter Gareth Delany was the lone warrior for his team in the ongoing game against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
India won the toss and opted to field first against Ireland. It was a magnificent performance from the ball from their end as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals and put opponents under pressure at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Gareth Delany looked in decent touch with the bat and was fighting hard for his team. The batter played some good shots in his innings and with the batting, it seemed that he would take his team to a fighting total in their first game of the T20 World Cup 2024.
While wickets kept tumbling at the other end, Gareth Delany held the one end and was keeping his team in the hunt. It’s fair to say that had he batted till the end, Ireland could have gone past 120 runs, which could’ve been a good total on this pitch.
However, to his misfortune, the batter got run out on a no-ball. It was during the last ball of the 16th over, which was a free hit when Arshdeep Singh bowled a full delivery outside off. Benjamin White, who was on strike, sliced the ball past backward point and raced for the first run.
However, for the second both the batters got involved in a mix-up and were stranded at the bowler's end. Mohammed Siraj from the boundary rope swooped in and sent the throw to Rishabh Pant, who removed the stumps to send the batter packing at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
