Star India pacer, Jasprit Bumrah spoke on his comeback performance after the second 20-over match against Ireland on Sunday (August 20) at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. The 29-year-old pacer said that he couldn’t have asked anything more.

Jasprit Bumrah was sidelined from the pitch for over one year after a stress fracture. However, the pacer donned the pitch wearing the India jersey once he returned from his injury on Friday (August 18th).

In the first T20I against the Irish side, Bumrah took two wickets in his first over. On the second ball of the over, he took Andrew Balbirnie’s wicket and bowled him out. While, on the fifth delivery, Bumrah dismissed Lorcan Tucker when the batsman tried to play a unique shot but failed to hit it properly, and lands on Sanju Samson’s palms.

Jasprit Bumrah was successful to hold his form in the second T20I match as well, where he dismissed Mark Adair and Barry McCarthy in the 17th and the last over. On Sunday (August 20th), Bumrah displayed a stellar performance and delivered one maiden over and did not concede a single boundary in his four-over spell.

India went to bat first after Ireland won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second 20-over match. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a stupendous 58-run inning from 43 balls with a strike rate of 134.88.

Sanju Samson, who was the center of the criticism since he failed to score runs in the recent West Indies tour, also scored 40 runs from 26 balls with a strike rate of 153.85.

Rinku Singh, who came to bat for the first time on the blue jersey, made 38 runs with a strike rate of 180.95. Rinku hammered two fours and three sixes during his 21-ball inning.

In the second inning of the match, Jasprit Bumrah-led the bowling attack while others also did well. Arshdeep Singh picked only one wicket and removed Andrew Balbirnie, who made 72 runs from 51 balls.

Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi also took two wickets each and successfully defended the 186-run target to clinch a 33-run win against the home side.

Happy to be back: Jasprit Bumrah

The 29-year-old said that he felt good while bowling and felt no discomfort. Bumrah added that he is playing without any expectations since once one starts playing with expectations, it creates pressure. The pacer further added that he is happy to return back on the field and couldn’t have asked for anything more.

“Feeling good. Today, I could run in and bowl a little faster. If you play with the baggage of expectation, you are going to be under pressure. You have to keep those expectations aside. You are not doing yourself 100 percent justice if you are playing with so many expectations. You have to learn to manage the expectations and keep it on the side. Happy to be back and couldn’t have asked for anything more,” Jasprit Bumrah said after the match.

India will play against Ireland on Wednesday (August 23) in the third T20I match at Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. The match will kick off at 7:30 PM IST.
