IND vs IRE: Kiran More Believes Rinku Singh Could Become A Brilliant Finisher For India Like Yuvraj Singh And MS Dhoni

Former Indian wicketkeeper batter Kiran More admitted that he was excited for young batting sensation Rinku Singh to make his international debut. Kiran More highlighted that Rinku Singh can be a good finisher for the Indian team in the T20I format, like Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

Rinku Singh received his maiden call-up from the national team for the three-match T20I series against Ireland after being left out of the West Indies tour. The left-handed batter made his T20I debut during the Jasprit Bumrah-led team’s two-run victory in Dublin on Friday, August 18.

Rinku Singh Has Improved A Lot – Kiran More

In a conversation with Jio Cinema, Kiran More said that the Indian cricket team didn’t find a proper finisher after the retirement of Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

“I have been waiting for his opportunity in the Indian team. And that batting position, of No.5 and 6, he will perform well in that spot and can end up being a brilliant finisher. We all have seen MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh,” More told JioCinema.

“After that we haven’t got a player like them. We tried making such players, but it didn’t work so far. Tilak Varma is also there, he too can perform that role. Rinku is also a brilliant fielder. And I have seen him in domestic cricket as well, he has improved a lot I feel,” he added.

The 25-year-old didn’t have the opportunity to bat in his debut game. The visitors were 47-2 before rain interrupted the match. The Men in Blue were declared the winners as play was unable to continue due to the rain.

Great Feeling To See My Name In The Squad – Rinku Singh

In a video posted by the BCCI, Rinku Singh shared his mother’s emotions after being picked for the Indian team for the first time, noting that his dream had come true.

“I am feeling really good. When I came into my room and when I saw the Indian jersey with number 35 and name ‘Rinku’ on it, I got very emotional. These are the moments you work hard for and when the dreams come true, it feels great,” Rinku said.

“I was in Noida practicing with my friends when the squad was announced. It was a great feeling to see my name in the squad and I immediately called my mother. My mother always says ‘Son, you have to play for India’. So her as well as my dreams are fulfilled,” he added.
