Former England captain Michael Vaughan and ex-Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist have revealed their predictions for the highest run-scorer in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup got underway on Sunday (June 2). The tournament is being played in the Caribbean and the United States of America. On the first day of the competition, both the co-hosts won their opening games. While the USA thrashed Canada by seven wickets, West Indies registered a hard-fought win over Papua New Guinea.

On the second day, Namibia and Oman played out a thriller before the former won the contest through a super over. Later in the day, South Africa inflicted a heavy six-wicket defeat on 2014 champions Sri Lanka after bowling them out for just 77 runs.

Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan's prediction:

With the T20 World Cup underway, Michael Vaughn and Adam Gilchrist have been busy predicting about the competitions. They recently predicted the finalists for the tournament as well. While Michael Vaughan predicted an England - Australia final, Gilchrist went with an Australia - New Zealand final.

For the highest run-scorer, Vaughan picked India superstar Virat Kohli while speaking on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast. The former India skipper is in stunning form at the moment and recently had a brilliant campaign in the IPL. He finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, scoring 741 runs with the help of one century and five fifties. Kohli was also the highest run-scorer in the last edition of the T20 World Cup.

On the other hand, Gilchrist picked his compatriot David Warner, backing the veteran opener to enjoy a last hurrah in the T20 World Cup. Warner has already retired from Tests and ODIs and is likely to retire from T20Is as well after the World Cup.

Warner had a poor campaign in this year's IPL where he scored only 168 runs in 8 games and will be looking to bounce back in the T20 World Cup. He scored a fine fifty in the warm-up game against Namibia and will be hoping to deliver with the bat in the main tournament as well.
