Virat Kohli Set To Open For India In T20 World Cup 2024

Virat Kohli is currently part of the Indian squad for the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). The Delhi-born cricketer was rested from the warm-up match against Bangladesh, where the Men in Blue secured a 60-run victory in New York on Saturday, June 1.

The former Indian skipper was the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 while representing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Kohli scored 741 runs at an impressive strike rate of 154.69, including one century and five fifties. He played as an opener for the RCB team in the T20 tournament.

The Men in Blue will kick off their World Cup campaign at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 5. Team India last won the ICC trophy in 2013, when they beat England in the Champions Trophy final. The Men in Blue will be hoping to end their 11-year ICC trophy drought in the marquee event. It's worth mentioning that India clinched the trophy in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa.
