IND vs NED: Watch- Virat Kohli Celebrates 35th Birthday By Cutting Cake with Teammates After Stellar Performance Against South Africa

The World Cup clash between India and South Africa was a special occasion for Virat Kohli, as it coincided with his 35th birthday. India faced off against the Proteas at the iconic Eden Gardens on Sunday (November 5).

All eyes were on the India batting superstar and he did not disappoint as he came up with a stellar knock. The former India captain scored a sublime century on the special day to star in India’s record 243-run win over the Proteas. After India lost both of their openers inside the first ten overs, the right-handed batsman led the charge with the bat.

On a pitch where other batters were finding it tough to time the ball, Virat Kohli mixed caution with aggression to keep India in contention for a big total. India eventually posted a big total of 326 for 5 in 50 overs with their star batsman remaining unbeaten on 101. His knock came off 121 balls and was studded with 10 fours. Shreyas Iyer also played a crucial 77-run knock.

India’s bowlers made sure to complement the batters’ efforts with yet another stunning display. After bowling out England and Sri Lanka for 129 and 55 runs respectively in the last two innings, the bowlers bowled out South Africa for a paltry total of 83 runs. Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball, taking a career-best 5 for 33.

After the game ended, Virat Kohli celebrated his birthday with his teammates. A number of BCCI dignitaries such as secretary Jay Shah and vice-president Rajeev Shukla were also among the attendees as the former India captain cut the cake. Jadeja was also seen cutting a cake for his brilliant performance in the game.

Earlier, Virat Kohli received a golden bat on his 35th birthday from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) at the Eden Gardens. After the game ended, he was presented with the golden bat by CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, the brother of former India captain Sourav Ganguly. He also cut a birthday cake on the ground after the win.
