Wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul has cleared his fitness Test and is set to join the Indian team in the Asia Cup 2023 as per reports in Rev Sportz. He will be available for selection for the Super 4 stage.

India and Pakistan gained a point each from their rained-out game in Pallekele on Saturday. India take on Nepal also in Pallekele on Monday. The Men in Blue need to win the game against Nepal to clear their passage to the Super 4 of Asia Cup 2023. Meanwhile, Pakistan have already advanced through to the Super 4s.

Ishan Kishan batted at number five in KL Rahul’s absence against Pakistan. He scored a valuable 82 and added a 138-run stand with Hardik Pandya (87) to take India to 266.

Meanwhile, Rahul who has been injured since May 2023 was named in India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad. Head coach Rahul Dravid said that Rahul will be missing the league stage due to a niggle just days before his selection as he was going through match simulations and practice games at the NCA to prove his fitness.

KL Rahul To Be Available For The Super 4 Stage

BCCI Selector Ajit Agarkar revealed while naming India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad in Delhi that Rahul will be missing the group-stage matches in the tournament. He later showed improvement in the training camp that India staged at Alur before leaving for Sri Lanka where he underwent intensive sessions in batting and wicketkeeping which hinted that he would probably make the XI for the Pakistan clash. But he was asked to stay back at the NCA as a “precautionary measure” with the ODI World Cup a month later.

A report in Rev Sports on Sunday stated that Rahul had cleared his fitness test at the NCA and will join the Indian team in Kandy. The report added that he will be available for selection from the Super 4 stage.
