The real reason behind the premier India National Cricket Team pacer Jasprit Bumrah returning back home to Mumbai ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 clash against Nepal has reportedly been revealed.
Jasprit Bumrah recently took part in the high-octane Asia Cup clash against Pakistan on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Although the first ODI between India and Pakistan since the 2019 World Cup ended in a no-result, the fans saw a great contest between the bat and ball in the only innings that took place in the match.
Winning the toss and batting first, India were left tottering at 66/4, before Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya rescued the side with their sensational performances. Ishan Kishan scored 82 while Hardik Pandya scored 87 and the duo were involved in an exceptional 138-run partnership. However, Pakistan bowlers made a terrific comeback and picked wickets at regular intervals to bundle out India for 266 in 48.5 overs.
Meanwhile, the run-chase of Team Pakistan wasn’t able to start as the rain played spoilsport and the match between the arch-rivals was abandoned.
Jasprit Bumrah Returns Home For Birth Of His Child
Jasprit Bumrah, who recently made a triumphant return to international cricket following an 11-month hiatus, looked good with the bat against Pakistan as he scored 16 runs off 14 balls, with fours, and was India’s third-highest run-getter on the day after Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan.
According to the reports in News 18, Jasprit Bumrah has traveled back to Mumbai for the birth of his first child and will miss the fixture against Nepal. The Men In Blue will take on the Nepal National Cricket Team on Monday, September 4, in the 5th match of the competition at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Neither Jasprit Bumrah nor his wife Sanjana Ganesan, who is an Indian model and a popular television presenter, have made any announcement regarding the birth of their first child, but according to reports, this is the real reason behind Bumrah missing the fixture against Nepal.
“Yes, Bumrah is heading to Mumbai for personal reasons. It is not an injury concern or anything else and he will rejoin the squad for the Super 4 stage of the tournament,” said the official, as quoted by News18.
The pacer will join the team for the Super 4 stage of the continental tournament and in his absence Mohammed Shami is expected to be a part of the playing XI.
