New Zealand pacer Trent Boult praised the strength and versatility of the Rohit Sharma-led team ahead of their ICC World Cup 2023 clash. Boult emphasized that the Indians will be under pressure, much like any other team, despite their familiarity with the conditions.
The Men in Blue are set to face New Zealand in their upcoming match in the tournament, scheduled for Sunday, October 22, at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. It’s worth noting that the Black Caps have had a strong record against the Indian team in recent ICC events.
They’re A Powerful Team – Trent Boult
Speaking ahead of the match, Trent Boult highlighted that the Indian team has all bases covered, making them an enjoyable opponent to face in the ongoing tournament.
“They’re a powerful team, they cover all bases,” Boult was quoted as saying by Reuters on Saturday, 21 October.
“They’ve been playing some good cricket but it’s been a team that we’ve enjoyed playing,” he further added.
India and New Zealand are the only two undefeated teams in the showpiece tournament so far. The Kiwis are at the top of the 10-team points table with 8 points to their tally, while the hosts are in the second spot with the same points but slightly lesser NRR.
Nothing Changes From Our Point Of View – Trent Boult
Trent Boult emphasized that New Zealand’s approach remains unchanged against India, focusing on positivity and effective strategies.
“Nothing changes from our point of view really. It’s about going out there and being positive and doing the things that work well. These guys are very familiar with the conditions but they feel pressure just as much as any other batsman or any other bowler,” Boult said.
Boult expressed his opinion about the significant challenge of facing India, expecting an intense and possibly thrilling match.
“Playing against India in India, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. He anticipates an increase in intensity and possibly a few fireworks during the match. “But hopefully they’re for us.”
