IND vs PAK: Ex-cricketer levels shocking accusations against Babar Azam after Pakistan's humiliating loss to USA

Babar Azam, the batsman and the captain of the Pakistan cricket team is being attacked from all corners after his team's shocking loss to the USA in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Green lost in the Super Over.

Firstly the much-famed Pakistan bowling attack failed to defend 159 and then they conceded 18 runs in the Super Over and failed to score those runs as well. Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign started on the worst possible note and the road to the Super 8s looks difficult from here on.

Pakistan had nothing going right for them throughout the match against the USA. Firstly the partnership of Babar and Rizwan did not give them the start as expected. Secondly, they lost wickets at regular intervals and ended up scoring a below-par total on a good wicket.

With the ball, they failed to take early wickets and ended up conceding the runs. Haris Rauf, who is one of the most experienced Pakistan pacers, failed to defend 15 off the final over.

The Men in Green headed into this tournament after losing a T20I series to England and barely managing to win a series against Ireland under Babar Azam. Newly appointed PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi reappointed Babar Azam as the skipper of the Pakistan cricket team just before the T20 World Cup.

This was after Shaheen Afridi's difficult stint as a T20I skipper, losing a series to New Zealand. Now Basit Ali has slammed Babar Azam saying that he plays favouritism within the team and picks players who are close to him.

Following their shocking loss to the USA, former Pakistan cricketers have been criticizing the team's performance. A few former Pakistan cricketers were in disbelief seeing Pakistan lose to the minnows. Basit Ali has joined forces and slammed Babar.

Previously former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez had also slammed Babar after Pakistan's historic loss to the US. He said Babar as the skipper did not make the right calls in the Super Over and said that bowling Amir in the over was a mistake.

Pakistan next plays India on Sunday followed by Canada June (11) and Ireland (June 16). Notably, things will get difficult for Pakistan if they face one more loss in the group stage and they might not qualify for the Super 8 stage.

Meanwhile, a buoyant USA are all set to take to India and Ireland in their final two games. They are currently topping the table in Group B and look good to make it to the Super 8 stage.
