Pakistan head coach, Grant Bradburn opened up on the Men in Green’s 228-run loss against India in the third Super Fours match of Asia Cup 2023 on Monday (September 11) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and thanked the Men in Blue for showing Pakistan where they are lacking in the game.
Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India on Sunday (September 10th) in Colombo however the match was later stopped due to heavy rain and was resumed on the next.
Gill and Rohit started the inning brilliant partnership of 121 runs which helped the Men in Blue to have an upper hand on the game from the very first. Gill scored 58 runs from 52 balls with a strike rate of 111.54. Whereas, Rohit played a 56-run knock from 49 balls with a strike rate of 114.29.
Soon after they were dismissed Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took control of the match and led India to a total of 356 runs. Virat Kohli played a 122-run knock from 94 balls with a strike rate of 129.79. On the other hand, KL Rahul made 111 runs from 106 balls with a strike rate of 104.72.
The Pakistani bowling attack failed to make a mark in the Super Fours match and only Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan managed to pick up one wicket each in the first inning.
In the second inning, the Men in Green batting lineup failed to chase the given target after Kuldeep Yadav led the Indian bowling attack and scalped five wickets from his eight-over spell and gave away only 25 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each in the second inning and helped the Men in Blue to win the much-anticipated match against Pakistan.

After the third Super Fours match, Grant Bradburn said that he is grateful to Rohit Sharma’s side for showing Pakistan where they need to improve.
Grant Bradburn accepted that the Men in Green don’t play many matches against the best players in the world and it is high time to play more such matches.
Grant Bradburn, the Pakistan head coach also added that the Men in Green have not lost a cricket match in the last three months and it is time to check reality.
“My gut feeling is that we are grateful for the gift that has been this last two days. We don’t get to play some of the best players in the world very often.
“We haven’t lost a game of cricket for the last three months, so it’s a timely reminder that we need to turn up every day, put in our best on the park, and it’s actually a gift in the last two days we haven’t done that,” Grant Bradburn said while speaking on the press conference.
India squared off against Sri Lanka in the fourth Super Fours match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Tuesday (September 12th).
