Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh recently responded to former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi for his ‘India afraid to lose to Pakistan’ remark. Harbhajan Singh criticized Najam Sethi, saying India had a good record against Pakistan in previous matches.

Pakistan had the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023 edition. However, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah stated that the Indian cricketers would not travel to the neighboring nation for the six-team tournament, which led to the hybrid model.

Speaking to Sports Today, Harbhajan Singh questioned Najam Sethi’s statements, saying that he doesn’t know what Sethi is smoking these days.

“Don’t know what Najam Sethi is smoking nowadays. I don’t know how is he saying that they were the favourites or India does not want to play Pakistan,” said Harbhajan during an interview.

“Please someone give him the whole record where India have beaten them more number of times whenever they have played against each other. This is baseless kind of a thing for him, with the kind of stature that he holds at this moment for Pakistan cricket,” he added.

Harbhajan Singh stated that India is not afraid to play Pakistan, expressing confidence in the Rohit Sharma-led team’s ability to beat the Men in Green anywhere in the world.

“He says, India does not want to play Pakistan because India is scared. India is never scared to play anyone. Don’t know where this is coming from. They needed to sit with the Asian Cricket Council and see where the tournament is going to be held. Whether the weather forecast was right or not. Boss, come and play us wherever you want, we will beat you.”

Earlier, Najam Sethi took to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed his dissatisfaction over the scheduling of the Asia Cup 2023 matches in Colombo, where the weather forecast is not good in the coming days.

“BCCI/ACC informed PCB today that they had decided to shift next India-Pak match from Colombo to Hambantota because of rain forecasts. Within one hour they changed their mind and announced Colombo as the venue. What’s going on? Is India afraid to play and lose to Pakistan Look at the rain forecast!” Sethi wrote.
