IND vs PAK: Irfan Pathan Discusses Who Should Play Against Pakistan In The Asia Cup 2023: Ishan Kishan Or KL Rahul? Says 'I Will Go Towards...'

Former India pacer, Irfan Pathan spoke on whom to choose between Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul in the upcoming Asia Cup Super Fours match and said that he will go with KL Rahul and accepted that the team management can think differently.

While speaking on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan started by saying that it is the fans who are making the choice more tough but the team management has already made their decision and added that the former India pacer will prefer KL Rahul over Ishan Kishan.

Irfan Pathan also stated that if the former player was Ishan Kishan then he wouldn’t have missed any practice sessions since the player wants to come back to his old form.

“We and the fans are making it complicated. I feel the management is extremely clear about who they want to play. If you ask me, I will go towards KL Rahul but the team management can think differently.

“Everyone goes to practice. You are the two wicketkeepers in the squad. You will prepare properly and give yourself a chance and it is clear, if I am Ishan Kishan, I won’t want to miss any session because I will want to maintain my form,” Irfan Pathan said.

In the third match of the Asia Cup 2023, India locked horns against Pakistan but the match was cancelled after the first inning since the rain did not stop.

Irfan Pathan said that no matter hoe practice Rahul does but still it will be less since the ODI World Cup in India is coming and they want to play as much as possible.

“On the other hand, KL Rahul needs to do it. No matter how much he practices or goes on the ground, it is less because the World Cup is also around the corner and you want as much practice as possible, play as many deliveries, and prepare fully. The decision is going to be interesting for sure.

“I will go with Rahul. Ishan Kishan, it’s a straight replacement. You won’t want to play him in place of Shreyas Iyer. Yes, Shreyas Iyer is coming after injury but he is coming after scoring a lot of runs before that. KL Rahul also scored a lot of runs before injury,” Irfan Pathan added.

In the upcoming match, India will square off against Pakistan and the high-voltage match will be played on Sunday (September 10th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
