Indian batter KL Rahul batted as well and kept wickets at full intensity during the camp of the team ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. This comes as a massive boost for the team as the keeper-batter recently picked up a niggle and there were some concerns over his fitness for the tournament.

KL Rahul has been out of the action since IPL 2023 as he faced a thigh injury. The keeper-batter was deemed fit recently but during the squad selection of the Asia Cup 2023, chief selector Ajit Agarkar mentioned that he has picked up a fresh niggle. He mentioned that the right-hander might miss the first two games of the tournament.

But KL Rahul has shown great signs during India’s practice camp at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in Alur. On Day 3 of the camp, as shown on Star Sports, alongside batting he performed wicketkeeping drills. He was also seen batting with captain Rohit Sharma.

KL Rahul also underwent an extended batting session on Day 2 paired up with Suryakumar Yadav as part of a match simulation. The keeper-batter didn’t look in any discomfort while facing bowlers and showed some great footwork against the spinners.

KL Rahul’s batting and keeping at the NCA camp do nothing but depict that he has attained full fitness and might play the first game of the Asia Cup 2023. He’s likely to bat at No.5 in the team when India open their campaign against Pakistan on 2nd September in Kandy.

Apart from KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, who will be also returning from the injury, was also seen batting. The right-hander looked in good touch and it’s fair to say both of them taking part in all the drills will give massive confidence to the team ahead of the Asia Cup and ICC World Cup.
