IND vs PAK: Kris Srikkanth Wants Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma To Take "Bold Call" On Ishan Kishan's Batting Position

Former India National Cricket Team World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth wants head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma to take a bold call on the batting position of the wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan in the Asia Cup 2023.

India will play their first match of the upcoming Asia Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Pallekele. Ahead of the competition, India have suffered a setback as KL Rahul has been ruled out of the first couple of matches due to a new niggle that he has picked up.

In the absence of KL Rahul, Kishan is most likely to keep wickets for India in the league stage. Kishan has done brilliantly for India as an opener in ODIs, but his numbers in the middle-order are poor and the team management will have a tough decision to make on his batting position.

Meanwhile, Kris Srikkanth has said that Kishan should be given the opportunity to open the innings with Rohit Sharma.

“If Ishan Kishan has to be in the XI. He has to open the batting,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel on Tuesday.

Former India cricketer believes that Kishan opening the innings will give India a good left-right combination at the top. He also said that the team management should give license to Kishan to attack from the very first ball against the dangerous Pakistan bowling unit in the competition.

“You are playing against Pakistan. They have some terrific fast bowlers. You have to take your chances. You have give Ishan the license to go out and take the attack to the Pakistan bowlers,” Srikkanth said while discussing the Indian team.

“That’s why I am saying (for left-right combination), take a bold call and send Ishan Kishan to open the batting. Ask him to attack,” Srikkanth concluded on Kishan.
