Star India spinner, Kuldeep Yadav bagged five wickets against Pakistan on Monday (September 11) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo which helped India to clinch a 228-run win against their arch-rivals and said that he will always remember this five-wicket haul against the Men in Green.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul also displayed a stunning performance in the match. Kohli scored 122 runs from 94 balls with a strike rate of 129.79. Whereas, KL Rahul made 111 runs from 106 balls with a strike rate of 104.72 and led India to a total of 356 runs in the first inning.
Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma helped India to dominate the game from the initial overs after they made a partnership of 121 runs.
While speaking in the post-match presentation, Kuldeep Yadav said that one will always remember their five-wicket haul against a big team.
The Indian spinner also added that it motivates him since the Pakistani batting lineup can play against the spin attack and against them they managed to take five wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav accepted that it is difficult to play when a game is disrupted by rain but the players always have to be ready to play in such conditions.
“If you take 5 wickets against a big team, you always remember that. Whenever I stop playing cricket, I will always remember that I had taken 5 wickets against Pakistan. This is a big thing because if you perform well against sides who play good spin, it motivates you a lot.
“It becomes a bit difficult to play when the game gets disrupted due to rain. Players always have to be ready to play if the conditions allow.
“We were all excited to play and complete the game. I was just thinking about bowling at a good length. Focusing on rhythm and this is more important for me and a bit more aggressive as well,” Kuldeep Yadav said.
I am really happy with my performance: Kuldeep Yadav
The Indian spinner agreed that after the injury his playing style has changed and now the rhythm has become more aggressive and the run-up is more straight.
“Since the injury, the run-up has become straight and the rhythm has become aggressive. After surgery, everything was very frustrating for me because I was out for 5 months.
“I am really happy with my performance. One and a half year has been amazing, I was not thinking about the playing XI. Just enjoying my bowling. I have been working on length because it matters a lot,” he added.
India will square off against Sri Lanka in the upcoming Super Fours match of the Asia Cup on Tuesday (September 12th).
