IND vs PAK: "Nothing Shot From Virat Kohli"- Gautam Gambhir On Batter's Dismissal Against Pakistan

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir criticized Virat Kohli’s dismissal against Pakistan in the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup encounter. India won the toss and opted to bat first. They lost Kohli and Rohit in quick succession which left the team reeling.

India lost Rohit Sharma with a team score of just 15. Shaheen Afridi dismissed Kohli and Rohit in quick succession bringing India down to 27/2 with Kohli’s dismissal. The Men in Blue went further into trouble as they lost Shreyas Iyer (14) and Shubman Gill as well and were reeling at 66/4. Since the dismissal of the top four wickets, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya have added a key partnership for India and brought India out of trouble.

Doing commentary while Kohli was dismissed, Gautam Gambhir blamed him for playing a nothing shot as Kohli chopped the ball to his stumps. He was guilty of playing the ball with an angled bat which led to his dismissal.

The former India captain has faced 98 deliveries from left-arm pacers since the start of 2021. He has scored 87 runs against them at an average of 21.75 and a strike rate of 88.77. The 34-year-old has also been dismissed four times during the process.

Gautam Gambhir Blames Virat Kohli’s Nothing Shot For His Dismissal

“Nothing shot. Neither on front nor on back foot. He just used his hands and that’s what happens then,” Gambhir told Star Sports during the second rain break.

India and Pakistan have faced each other 13 times, with India leading the race with 7 wins, while Pakistan have 5 wins next to their name. The last time Pakistan won in ODIs against India was in the 2017 ICC Championship Trophy final.

Pakistan have already won their first game against Nepal and need one more win to advance to the Super 4s. Meanwhile, this is India’s first game of the campaign and a must-win one.
