IND vs PAK: Shaheen Afridi Injury Scare For Pakistan Ahead Of India Clash As Waqar Younis Makes Worrying Remark On-Air

Pakistan National Cricket Team premier pacer Shaheen Afridi gave an injury scare to his side ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 clash against India National Cricket Team as the legendary pacer Waqar Younis dropped a worrying remark on-air during the Asia Cup 2023 opening clash.

In the curtain raiser of the Asia Cup 2023, Group A teams – Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team and Rohit Paudel-led Nepal National Cricket Team – faced off at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, August 30.

The Men In Green crushed the Nepal National Cricket Team by 238 runs in the match to begin their campaign on a high. They will be looking forward to carrying this momentum in the second match against India on September 2 in Pallekele.

Meanwhile, Pakistan were handed an injury scare during the second innings of the opening match. As the innings approached the 10-over mark, Shaheen Afridi was seen surrounded by the team doctor and physio and later he walked off the field. The left-arm pacer was seen having an interaction with the team doctor near the boundary rope and it led to a worry among the Pakistan fans.

“If there’s a problem with Afridi, they shouuld take him off. He’s a valuable asset for the Pakistan side,” Andy Flower said on-air.

Meanwhile, Waqar Younis, who was also commentating, said that the young pacer being surrounded by doctor and physio is not a good sign.

“I don’t mind physio around a fast bowler at third man or fine leg. But when the doctor comes, that’s when it gets a little worrying. Shaheen has both of them around him,” said Waqar.

Later, Shaheen Afridi was seen walking back into the field, indicating nothing was serious. However, he didn’t bowl after coming back as his teammates did the rest of the job.

Shadab Khan was the most valuable player for his side in the bowling department in the Asia Cup 2023 opener as he bagged four wickets in the match. Speaking after the match, he credited the pacers for setting up a platform for him. He also lauded Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed for their sensational tons.

“It was hot out there, but Sri Lanka was hot as well but Sri Lanka was more humid. I can’t talk about Babar because we all know he is a world class player, Iftikhar has done so much for us whenever he gets the opportunity. He showcased his power hitting really well today.

“The platform was setup for me by the pacers, Shaheen and Naseem and then Haris Rauf was amazing. The conditions will be different, I have never played there (Pallekele) but let us see. We have confidence in each other and this is the beauty of the Pakistan cricket team.
