India opener, Shubman Gill heaped praise on Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for their stupendous knock against Pakistan on Monday (September 11th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan was supposed to take place on Sunday (September 10th) however, due to heavy it shifted to the reserve day.

Virat Kohli played a stellar 122-run knock from 94 balls with a strike rate of 129.79. On the other, KL Rahul who played his first competitive match after three-four months scored 111 runs from 106 balls with a strike rate of 104.72.

The Men in Blue dominated the match from the very first moment when Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma made a solid partnership of 121 runs in the initial overs of the match. Shubman Gill scored 58 runs from 52 balls with a strike rate of 111.54. Whereas, Rohit Sharma made 56 runs in 49 balls with a strike rate of 114.29.

While speaking during the inning break, the youngster praised the Pakistani bowling attack and said that they were doing well in the initial overs. While talking about Shaheen Afridi, Gill said that he was targeting the wickets.

“The ball was doing it in the initial period and they were bowling well also. But I think we had to show that if you are going to bowl us bad balls we are going to put it away. I think he [Shaheen Afridi] was attacking at the wickets. I also tried to show some intent that if you bowl me bad balls, I am going to put it away,” Shubman Gill said.

Virat Kohli also completed 13000 runs definitely special: Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill said that it was a special day for the Men in Blue since KL Rahul returned to the crease after recovering from his injury. The young Indian opener added that Virat Kohli completed his 13000 runs which is why it was a special day for the Indian side.

“Definitely very special for us. He [KL Rahul] is playing his first match after injury, definitely special for him. Virat [Kohli] bhaiya also completed his century and completed 13000 runs, definitely special,” he added.

In the fourth Super Fours match, India will lock horns against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 12th) at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
