IND vs PAK: Watch - Shadab Khan Grabs A Stunner To Dismiss Shardul Thakur For 3 In Asia Cup 2023

Pakistan National Cricket Team vice-captain and star all-rounder, Shadab Khan, grabbed an excellent catch to send India National Cricket Team pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur packing during the blockbuster Asia Cup 2023 clash between the arch-rivals.

The 31-year-old Shardul Narendra Thakur has been one of India’s top performers in the bowling department in ODIs since the last ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. Thakur is also a handy batter and he has shown his batting prowess in international cricket.

He was picked over Mohammed Shami in India’s playing XI for the high-octane clash against the Men In Green as the Indian team management wanted to add some batting depth. However, Thakur failed to contribute with the bat when it was needed the most and he walked back to the hut after scoring 3 runs off 3 balls.

On the first ball of the 45th over, Naseem Shah bowled a length ball around off-stump and Thakur got a leading edge due to which the ball went up in the air. Shadab Khan, who was stationed at the point, ran back and dived with outstretched hands to grab an absolutely amazing catch.

Batting first, India were bundled out for 266 in the match as all 10 wickets were picked up by the Pakistan pace-trio of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. Also, this was the first time in Asia Cup (ODI) history that all 10 wickets were picked by pacers.

Speaking during the mid-innings break, Shaheen Afridi said that the wickets of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were crucial. However, the left-arm pacer said that the wicket of Rohit was his favorite. Shaheen Afridi said:

“That was our plan with the new ball. I think both (Virat and Rohit) were crucial wickets, every batter is the same for me. But I think I liked Rohit’s wicket better. The plans by our fast bowlers worked. 

“Naseem is bowling at 150 kph, really happy with that, he’s really fast. The new ball might swing and seam, nothing much after that. It will be easier to score runs once the ball gets old (in the run chase).”
