Suryakumar Yadav, on Sunday (June 9), took a brilliant catch in the slip cordon to send back Babar Azam in the ongoing game between India and Pakistan. The arch-rivals locked horns against each other in the 19th game of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

After being bowled out for just 119 runs, India needed a good start with the ball to claw their way back into the game. In the third over, Jasprit Bumrah made Mohammad Rizwan hit one straight to Shivam Dube at fine leg but the allrounder failed to hold on to an easy catch.

India finally had their first breakthrough in the fifth over thanks to Bumrah and Suryakumar. On the fourth ball of the over, Bumrah bowled a back-of-length delivery that took Babar Azam by surprise due to the extra bounce. The Pakistan captain ended up edging the ball towards Suryakumar who was standing at first slip.

The ball was dying on the India star but he did well to dive in front and caught the ball just inches above the ground to give the team a much-needed first breakthrough. Babar departed after scoring 13 runs off 10 balls with the help of two fours.

Watch the catch from Suryakumar Yadav:

Earlier in the game, India came up with a poor performance with the bat and were bowled out for just 119 runs. On a tough pitch, India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli inside the powerplay but recovered soon and were well-placed at 89 for 3 in the 12th over.

However, India's innings got completely derailed once Haris Rauf sent back Suryakumar for 7. In no time, India lost four wickets to find themselves reeling at 96 for 7 from 89 for 3. In the end, they were all out for 119. For Pakistan, Naseem Shah and Rauf picked up 3 wickets each while Mohammad Amir took 2.
