Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir lavished rich praise on India skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the game against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that the opening batting is a world-class player and when he is set, he doesn’t leave anyone.

India batter Rohit Sharma arguably is one of the best players to have played the game of cricket. The opening batter has achieved a lot in his career and has shined at big stages and pressure situations for Team India, which is why he is rated highly in world cricket.

Rohit Sharma has had a huge success in his career. The batter loves playing against Pakistan but he has an even steven record against the arch-rivals. The India captain has had his moments in the match against arch-rivals but one of the pacers that has troubled him is Mohammad Amir.

The battle between Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Amir over the years is one of the talking points when India vs Pakistan happens. The duo have had their moments and will be up against each other when the two teams face each other in the T20 World Cup 2024 clash on 9th June in New York.

Ahead of the game, Mohammad Amir talked about how big player Rohit Sharma is and pointed out that if he faces 15-20 balls then it is difficult for bowlers to get him out. He talked about his plans to the India skipper and while speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“You know that Rohit is a world-class player. When he comes at his time, he doesn't leave anyone. Early on, as a bowler, there is a chance. You can hit him on pads or sticks early on. But when he faces 15-20 balls, he becomes a difficult batsman. So, my aim was to feed Rohit with new balls and try to hit him on the pads. And I was successful in that. “

Mohammad Amir further hailed Rohit Sharma for his 140-run knock in the 2019 World Cup game against Pakistan. He said that it was one of his best innings and took the game away from them. He added:

“Rohit's innings was one of the best innings. Because early on, the wicket wasn't good. Because the ball wasn't coming that way. It was slow. KL Rahul was struggling a lot at the start. But I think Rohit's innings changed the match. If Rohit hadn't played that way and the way we took the start from the top, Fakhar and Babar's partnership was also there.”

Pakistan-India matches are never easy -Mohammad Amir

Mohammad Amir further while talking about the game between India and Pakistan during the 2019 World Cup claimed that in the chase, Kuldeep Yadav took the game away from them with his two wickets. He added:

“Then I think Kuldeep took two wickets there. One of Babar and one of Fakhar. I think it was a match-turning. Because Fakhar and Babar were doing well. And as soon as they took two wickets, and it rained, our run rate went down.”

Mohammad Amir further talked about the pressure of the India vs Pakistan game and stated that games between two arch-rivals are never easy. He also expressed his desire to see both teams playing regularly. He added.

“Otherwise, as I told you, Pakistan-India matches are never easy. They are always on the entertaining side. And I think it should be like that in the future as well. I want Pakistan-India matches to be as many as possible.”

India will be entering the game against Pakistan on the back of a thrashing win against Ireland. On the other hand, Pakistan would be under pressure as they lost to the USA.
