The Indian cricket team faced an unfortunate loss in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Australia and were not able to break the ICC title jinx. The Indian team are yet to win an ICC title since 2013 and this was their ninth loss in an ICC knockout in the last ten years.

However, the team’s head coach Rahul Dravid believes that India have left the loss behind and are focusing on the Test series against South Africa. Team India defeated the Proteas in the ODI series by 2-1 whereas the T20I series ended with a scoreline of 1-1.

While speaking in the pre-IND vs SA first Test match press conference Rahul Dravid stated that the CWC 2023 final loss was disappointing but the team has moved on from it. He added that the players are good at moving on and we are forced to do so.

Rahul Dravid opens up on the Indian team forgetting the CWC 2023 final loss

Rahul Dravid said, “It’s happened in the past, yes it’s disappointing, but we have moved on from it. Now you have got something ahead of you. Players are good at that (moving on). We are forced to do that, we learn how to do that from the time we are kids. Every time you get out, you are disappointed, you have another innings to play, you have to perform in the next innings, so you can’t let the disappointment of the past stay with you. As cricketers, you learn how to deal with that, from the time you are kids. If you let the disappointment in the past stay with you, it will affect you in the next game.”

“Yes, the guys are disappointed, we were all disappointed. But we have all moved on from it now and we are looking forward to something that is ahead of us.”

The Indian cricket team played some ruthless cricket in the whole 2023 ODI World Cup and won ten out of ten matches until the final against Australia. It was utter dominance by the hosts in all the departments, which showcased why they are one of the best teams of this era.

From Virat Kohli to Mohammed Shami, each player of the team performed to his best and contributed to the team’s win in every match of the tournament. The team was not dependent on one player and they had a different ‘Player of the Match’ in almost every game of the competition.

However, it was just one bad day for the ‘Men in Blue’ as they were not able to level Australia’s record of most wins in a single edition of the ODI World Cup i.e. 11.

The Indian team will now aim to win the first-ever Test series in South Africa starting from December 26 in Centurion and also add some necessary points to the World Test Championship points table. India missed out on winning the Test series when they last toured South Africa, however, they will aim to win it this time.
