IND vs SA: Ravindra Jadeja Crushes India's Net Session, Set To Be In India's Playing 11 for Cape Town Test
Ravindra Jadeja missed out on the first Test against South Africa due to some fitness issues and Ravichandran Ashwin made the cut to replace the all-rounder. He was duly missed by the Indian team given his performances in overseas in Tests. India suffered a crushing defeat against South Africa who triumphed over by an innings and 32 runs against the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team.
Ravindra Jadeja has been one of India’s best all-rounders and his performance in Test cricket is better than any other format. He has performed with both bat and ball in the red-ball format and has won crucial matches with his performance on the field. India duly missed his services in the first Test as they suffered a thrashing defeat against the Proteas at the SuperSport Park in Centurion with South Africa now leading 1-0.
However, the Indian contingent must have gotten a sigh of relief as Ravindra Jadeja was looking fit ahead of the second Test. Ravindra Jadeja was spotted batting and bowling in the nets ahead of the second Test. His return to the Indian side in the second Test will be pivotal for Team India on their road to victory in the Second Test against South Africa which will be played at Newlands in Cape Town.
Ravindra Jadeja looked completely fit as he bowled and batted comfortably for a considerable amount of time, allaying fears about whether he could take part in the must-win second Test. Jadeja bowled for close to 45 minutes alongside Ashwin. He seemed to be bowling quickly as he made Rohit defend a few deliveries hurriedly. While batting, he looked nice and upright while playing some punchy drives.
Ravindra Jadeja Has A Good Record Against South Africa
Ravindra Jadeja has a terrific record against South Africa in Test cricket. He has taken 42 wickets in eight Test matches against the Proteas and has scored 329 runs against them in Tests which includes two half-centuries. Jadeja has played only one match in South Africa but he took a six-fer in that match and the Indian fans will be expecting a similar performance from the all-rounder if he plays in the second Test.
Ravindra Jadeja took a fifer in his last encounter against South Africa which was during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. However, India has already lost the first match which means they can’t win the series against South Africa. India has never won a Test series in South Africa and the streak will continue after the humiliating defeat in the first Test. India will be hoping to win the second Test to improve their PCT for the WTC Cycle.
After the defeat in the first Test, India slipped to sixth position in the WTC Cycle, and South Africa is currently leading the charts at the top. India has 38.89 PCT while South Africa is currently at 100 PCT. India and South Africa will clash at the Newlands in Cape Town for the second Test and hopefully Ravindra Jadeja will be playing in that game. It will be interesting to see if he could make an impact.
