Ravichandran Ashwin warns South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen

Ravichandran Ashwin is making every possible effort to bring India back into the game in the ongoing Test against South Africa. The first game of the two-match series between the teams is taking place at the Supersport Park in Centurion.

Things aren’t going in India’s favor at all in the game. They are trying everything but aren’t able to stop the run flow at the Centurion. Dean Elgar did most of the damage as he took the game away from the visitors and helped his team take a lead of around 150 runs.

Not only Dean Elgar but Marco Jansen too is troubling Indians. The Proteas dominated the first session of the ongoing Day 3 of the game. Even veteran Ravichandran Ashwin looked frustrated and couldn’t quite take his team to the top of the game.

Despite being down and dusted, Ravichandran Ashwin displayed a great presence of mind. He attempted to run out Marco Jansen at the non-striker end. The off-spinner warned the lanky all-rounder for backing up too far.

Here’s the video:

Ravichandran Ashwin bowled some tight overs but it didn’t help India much. Bowlers at the other leaked runs and it didn’t help him to build pressure. Elgar and Jansen on the other hand added 111 runs partnership between them and made Indian bowlers work hard.

Shardul Thakur finally made a breakthrough for India as he removed Dean Elgar. The opening batter ended with the knock of 185 runs off 287 balls. Jansen on the other hand is still going strong and was batting at 72 runs off 120 balls.

Marco Jansen would be hoping to extend the lead to over 200 and outplay India. This so far has been his highest score in Test cricket. The all-rounder has looked settled at the crease and would be hoping to register his maiden ton in the longest format of the game.

IND vs SA: Ravichandran Ashwin removes Gerald Coetzee for 19

After Dean Elgar was back in the hut, Gerald Coetzee came out to bat and he batted with an aggressive mindset, trying to up the ante. He took Indian bowlers to the cleaners and made them think a lot. But it was Ravichandran Ashwin who foxed him and removed him.

Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a full and quick delivery on off stump. Gerald Coetzee tried to slam it over the infield but he didn’t get the great connection. The batter sliced the ball and chipped it tamely towards mid-off, where Mohammed Siraj took an easy catch.

This was Ravichandran Ashwin’s first wicket in the game. The off-spinner with the scalp reduced South Africa to 391/7. The Proteas have taken a lead of 147 runs in the first session of the game on Day 3.

Ravichandran Ashwin would be hoping to showcase his experience and pick remaining wickets as early as possible. If India need to restrict the lead under 200, the off-spinner needs to step up big time for his side. Indian pacers too aren’t getting great help. Only Jasprit Bumrah has applied pressure on the batters but the other bowlers haven’t supported him well.
