IND vs SL: Dasun Shanaka Drops Huge "Not Surprised" Remark On India's Loss To Bangladesh

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team captain Dasun Shanaka has made a huge remark on India’s loss to Bangladesh in the last Super Four game of Asia Cup 2023 ahead of the summit clash.

Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka National Cricket Team will lock horns with each other in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, September 17, at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Sri Lanka will be heading into the game following their 2-wicket victory over Pakistan in an absolute nail-biter. India, on the other hand, will enter the clash after facing a 6-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Dasun Shanaka said that he was not surprised by India’s loss to Bangladesh because they made wholesale changes to their playing XI. He also labeled India as the best team in the world. Dasun Shanaka said:

“They (India) changed the whole team (against Bangladesh). They rested the best players, so I am not surprised. It can happen to any team. India, I know they are the best team. Still, Bangladesh did their part in this wicket.”

Notably, India were without the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah in the game against Bangladesh because they were rested and were replaced by Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, and Prasidh Krishna.

Under the leadership of Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka will be playing their second consecutive Asia Cup final and the Lankan skipper is thankful for being backed by the SLC selection committee.

Dasun Shanaka, whose batting form has not been good in recent times, further said that his performance with the bat doesn’t have any impact on his decision-making as a leader.

“I don’t compare my batting when I go to lead the team. My decision-making is more important than being a batsman in the middle. I don’t say that batting is not important, but at the same time, I need to forget all the things that happened with the bat,” Dasun Shanaka said.

“I need to be calm and cool whenever the decisions should be taken. I must be thankful to the selectors for keeping trust in me and also backing me and my coaching staff for giving me the confidence to be the leader to deliver the maximum out of me, so I am very grateful to them.”
