The IND vs SL T20I series kicks off with the first T20I in Pallekele on July 27. The match starts at 7 pm IST. All the matches will be played in Pallekele with the matches scheduled on July 27, 28, and 30.

Both India and Sri Lanka played the T20 World Cup heading into this series. India won the tournament under Rohit Sharma. He along with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from the format after India won the title.

Sri Lanka had a disappointing tournament under Wanindu Hasaranga. They won just one match which was against Netherlands losing their first three league games to bow out of the tournament.

Hasaranga stepped down as Sri Lanks's T20I captain and Charith Asalanka will lead the team in this series. He recently led Jaffna Kings to yet another LPL title with a win over Galle Marvels in the LPL 2024 final.

Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out from the T20I series against India. He has been reportedly suffering from a respiratory infection and is yet to recover. SLC has named Asitha Fernando as his replacement.

Suryakumar Yadav is India's new T20I captain after Rohit Sharma retired from the format. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar named him the captain.

Gautam Gambhir is said to have influenced this selection. SKY was chosen ahead of Hardik Pandya as the management felt that Hardik's recent injury-prone history worked against him.

The Indian team has several other youngsters on the side. Kuldeep Yadav is rested from the T20I series and picked in the ODIs. Ravindra Jadeja is rested from the ODI series with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul back. Rishabh Pant is also back in the ODI squad.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal who was picked in India's T20 World Cup-winning squad has been axed from both the squads from the Sri Lanka series.

IND vs SL Broadcasting Rights in India

Sony Sports Network has secured the broadcasting right for the IND vs SL T20I and ODI series. Sony Ten 5 will live telecast with English Commentary. Sony TEN 3 will live telecast IND vs SL matches with Hindi Commentary.
