India beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs in a low-scoring thriller and booked their berth in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. In the process, they played three back-to-back days of cricket at the end of which they made it to the final of the Asian tournament.

Chasing 214 to win, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 172 with the Lankan batters adding two good partnerships. First Charith Asalanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama added a 43-run stand and then the partnership of 63 runs between Dhananjaya de Silva (41) and Dunith Wellalage (42*) threatened to take the game away from India.

However, with Jadeja dismissing de Silva, Kuldeep cleaned up the Sri Lankan tail to finally win the match by 41 runs. The Indian spinners conjugated for six wickets with Kuldeep picking four and Jadeja two. Bumrah picked two while Hardik and Siraj picked one each.

X Reacts To India’s Win Over Sri Lanka

Earlier in the day, India after getting a good start from their openers were bowled out for 213. Rohit Sharma scored his 51st ODI fifty and also got to 10,000 ODI runs. However, it was Dunith Wellalage’s spell that turned the game around for India. He took five wickets for 40 as from being 81 for 1, India lost their last nine wickets for 133 runs.

The Indian bowlers were tested by the two partnerships that the Sri Lankan batters were able to manifest. However, with good bowling changes and field placements, India were able to outsmart their opponents.

As said earlier, the win takes India to the final of the Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka face Pakistan next in a virtual semi-final on September 14. The winner advances through to the final and will play India on September 17. Meanwhile, The Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh in their last Super 4 game on September 15. The Tigers have already been knocked out of the tournament after losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
