Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took a spectacular catch to dismiss Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka with Sri Lanka chasing 214 for victory. The Lankans have lost half their side in the quest to get to the total.

Ravindra Jadeja took his first wicket of the match which was his 23rd in Asia Cup history. He is now the highest wicket-taker for India in the tournament with 23 wickets to his name. Irfan Pathan sits second with 22 wickets while Sachin Tendulkar and Kuldeep Yadav are tied on 17.

Jadeja extracted the most turn from this wicket. He also got the ball to hold the line going on with the arm. The delivery that dismissed Shanaka was tossed up and pitched outside off. Shanaka’s eyes lit up seeing the full delivery and in trying to drive the ball managed to just edge the ball.

Rohit Sharma standing at slips took a good diving catch. He was ecstatic after managing to hold onto the catch. Virat Kohli was the first to congratulate him as he hugged him after he completed the catch and joined in the celebration.

Earlier in the game, India won the toss and opted to bat first. After a good start, India lost all their wickets to spin as Dunith Wellalage and part-time spinner Charith Asalanka shared nine wickets between themselves.

India began their defense with their pacers taking the first three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah after an injury score to his ankle took the first two wickets. Mohammed Siraj then took the third.

Since then the Indian spin trio of Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Axar have kept the scoring rate in check and in the process shared three wickets between themselves. Kuldeep dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama (17) and Charith Asalanka (22) by breaking a 43-run stand between the pair. Jadeja then chipped in to dismiss Shanaka to peg Sri Lanka further.

India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have won one game each in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023 so far. The team that wins this match will reach the final of the tournament.
