Colombo hosts the third and final IND vs SL ODI on Wednesday, August 7. Sri Lanka are leading the series 1-0 after their win in the second ODI by 32 runs.

The dogged Lankan side brought out their A game against India to win the game. They first posted 240 runs with the bat with contributions from Avishka Fernando and Kamindu Mendis both scoring 40 each. Dunith Wellalage scored a crucial 39 and added a 72-run stand with Mendis.

Jefferey Vandersasy then took his best figures in ODI cricket to stumble out India for 208. He took six for 33 and picked up all the top-order wickets for India. The Men in Blue found it tough to read the leg spinner and collapsed after the first-wicket stand of 97.

It was the first defeat for India under Gautam Gambhir as coach who won the T20I series. India then drew the first ODI and lost the second ODI to trail in the series. Now they find themselves in a must-win situation heading into the final ODI.

The Lankan bowlers in both matches have backed up their batters. They have delivered when their team needed to.

Their second ODI performance was even more commendable as they were without Waninsu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana. The Indian batters need to be wary of Vandersay in the final ODI which is the decider.

The match starts at 2.30 pm local time. The weather conditions will be mostly cloudy with temperatures around 30 degrees. The cloud cover will be close to 90 percent and there will, be a 40 percent chance of rain. There are high chances of rain playing spoilsport.

240 turned out to be a winning score for Sri Lanka in the second ODI. There was a prodigious turn on the pitch as Jeffrey Vandersay took a six-wicket haul to stun the Indian batting lineup.
