IND vs USA: "My career is over..." - Jasprit Bumrah hits back at shocking claims

Jasprit Bumrah has clapped back on those who had predicted that he wouldn't be able to play cricket ever again during his injury lay-off in 2024.
Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a back injury for which he had to undergo surgery and then go through a lengthy recovery period which kept him out of action last year. Bumrah had to miss a lot of India's games as well as the Indian Premier League 2023 season but he had returned in time before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and the Asia Cup prior to that.
Ever since his return to the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah has once again reclaimed his stature as one of the best fast bowlers in the country. Bumrah has been pivotal for the team's success in the recent past and is currently playing a key role for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.
Controlling the controllable was the key for Jasprit Bumrah during his injury lay-off
Jasprit Bumrah has been so pivotal for the Indian team that in both of the Group A matches against Ireland and Pakistan he has been adjudged as man of the match. After collecting the award, Bumrah then appeared in a press conference and spoke about the people who were talking about his failure to return to cricket after the back injury.
At the moment, Jasprit Bumrah feels like he is bowling at his best ability at the moment and that he never cared about what went around on social media or in people's heads. For Bumrah, the key thing is to control the controllables and stick to the process he has been on since day 1.
"Yeah, see a year ago, the same people were saying that I might not play again and my career is over and then now the question changed. For me, I am not looking at, I am bowling at the best of my ability."
"I try to solve the problem that is there in front of me and try to control the controllables. I know it's a cliche answer that everybody just comes and says, yeah, we try to stick to the processes and try to control the control levels," Jasprit Bumrah told press reporters.
Staying in the present is the key for Bumrah
Staying in the present and focussing on what he needs to do as an individual is what has helped Jasprit Bumrah stay in the rhythm and in the hunt for wickets. He explained that he always makes sure to ask himself what can he do differently and never really listens to the outside noise.
"But I was trying to focus on what is the best option over here on a wicket like this. How do I make shot-making difficult? What are the best options for me? So that way, I try to stay in the present and focus on what I have to do. Because if I look at the outside noise, if I look at people and pressure and emotion takes over, then things don't really work for me," Bumrah concluded.
