Veteran Indian Test opener Abhinav Mukund has backed Team India to win the five-match T20I series against West Indis. The Men in Blue won the third T20I in Guayana on Tuesday to stay alive in the series. They will need to win the last two matches to win the series.

India lost the first T20I while trying to chase and the second while trying to defend. They finally delivered a match-winning performance in the third T20I. The final two T20Is will be played on Saturday and Sunday at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida, Lauderhill.

Speaking after the third T20I, Mukund backed Indi to win the series after the manner in which India won the third T20I. The Men in Blue chased down 160 with seven wickets and 13 balls to spare. Suryakmar Yadav scored a brilliant 83 off 44 balls. Tilak Varmja (49*) and Hardik Pandya (20*) shared an unbeaten 43-run stand to take India to victory.

“I think they’re happy with they come back. On a better batting pitch, I will back India a bit more. Today, the cutters did not work because the pitch got better to bat on,” Mukund said on JioCinema after the game.

India’s Batting Tested Against West Indies

India’s batting wobbled in the first two T20Is with none of the top-order batters scoring runs. They lost the first T20I chasing 150 to win and they could not defend 152 in the second T20I. With India losing back-to-back games their approach was criticized and the decision of the T20I specialists not able to deliver the good was talked about as well.

SKY, Varma, and Pandya’s good show in the middle order received appreciation after the win. There are still concerns with the Indian top-order with Shubman Gill badly struggling for form. He scored 3, 7, and 6 in the first three matches against West Indies.

Ishan Kishan was dropped from the third T20I after his poor returns in the first two games. He headed into the T20Is after scoring three consecutive fifties in the cricket. Yashasvi Jaiswal who made his T20I debut in the third T20I scored just one.
