Cricket commentator Aakash Chopra was surprised after watching Arshdeep Singh’s name in Asian Games 2023 squad. Chopra said that he was surprised by the fact that selectors don’t consider that the left-arm pacer is fit for ODIs.

Arshdeep Singh is picked as one of the pacers in India squad for Asian Games 2023. However, since the 46-nation sport event clashes with ICC World Cup 2023, players part of Asian Games 2023 will not be picked in the World Cup.

I Am Surprised With Arshdeep Singh’s Name In Asian Games 2023: Aakash Chopra

While speaking on his Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said he was surprised to see Arshdeep Singh’s name in Asian Games 2023 squad.

“I am surprised Arshdeep Singh’s name is in this team. I am surprised because they are not considering him for ODIs at all. You didn’t consider him for the ODIs as well in the West Indies,” Aakash Chopra said.

The former India opener also feels that Arshdeep Singh can play all three formats for Team India.

“Now you are not considering him for the Asia Cup and are already keeping him out of the World Cup list. What has happened? When I see Arshdeep Singh, it seems like there is a huge upside, he is a player for the long haul and can play all three formats, at least both white-ball formats, but they have not kept him currently,”, Chopra further added.

Arshdeep Singh is part of the IND vs WI T20I series. The Punjab Kings pacer made his international debut last year in July in a T20I game against England. The 24-year-old pacer has played 26 T20I games for India so far, hunting 41 wickets at an average of 17.78.

He has also played 3 ODIs games. However, he wasn’t successful in any of the matches and remained wicketless in all of them. Notably, Singh is the only left-arm pacer in the national setup currently.

Asian Games 2023 will be played from September 23 to October 8. The event is scheduled to be played in Hangzhou in China. The tournament does not come under International Cricket Council (ICC). About more than 40 sports events will take place during Asian Games 2023 and cricket is one of them.
