Former India opener, Aakash Chopra opened up on Hardik Pandya’s match-winning six in the third T20I match against West Indies which denied Tilak Varma from scoring his consecutive fifty.

While giving his final verdict Chopra said that Hardik Pandya considered himself a Dhoni fan but he doesn’t have to be a Dhoni.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra had an interesting take on Hardik Pandya’s last knock, for which he has been criticized. But this time the former batsman has been more sympathetic towards the India captain. Chopra said that there are no milestones in the 20-over cricket format and that comes in the middle of the conversation.

“Just to touch upon it. It’s an interesting one, Hardik Pandya has been trolled a lot and has been criticized. But there’s another school of thought that says, why are you talking about milestones in T20 cricket? So, that was quite in the middle of the conversation,” said Aakash Chopra.

Following Hardik denied the 20-year-old from scoring his back-to-back fifty, cricket fans on social media criticized the 29-year-old and asked him to learn from MS Dhoni.

Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel talked about how MS Dhoni once played a defensive shot to let Virat Kohli play the match-winning knock.

However, Chopra also added that Hardik Pandya doesn’t have to be like the former India skipper, even though he considers him his idol.

“I remember once MS Dhoni played a forward defensive shot because he wanted him to finish it off, he didn’t want to take the limelight. But Hardik doesn’t have to be a Dhoni, even if he considers him an idol,” added Chopra.
