Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel lauded left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav for a match-winning performance in the fourth T20I against the West Indies. Parthiv Patel highlighted that Kuldeep Yadav turned the match in India’s favour by picking important wickets in the match.
Kuldeep Yadav registered bowling figures of 2/26 in his four overs in Lauderhill, Florida, on Saturday, August 12. The left-arm wrist spinner dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell in the 7th over of the West Indies innings, restricting the opposition to 57 for the loss of four wickets.
Kuldeep Yadav Once Again Was Outstanding – Parthiv Patel
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Parthiv Patel said that Kuldeep Yadav has been consistently picking up wickets throughout the ongoing five-match T20I series.
“Kuldeep Yadav once again was outstanding. He got the two most important wickets of the West Indies batting line-up – Rovman Powell, who has been scoring runs in this series. We know how good a form Nicholas Pooran is in. That’s what we expect out of Kuldeep Yadav,” Patel said.
“He is always trying to take wickets and that’s exactly what he has been doing throughout this series. Kuldeep’s seventh over turned the game around in India’s favour. West Indies were going along nicely, and then Kuldeep comes in and gets two wickets in an over,” he further added.
The Hardik Pandya-led team restricted the Windies team to 178 runs in the allocated 20 overs. The Men in Blue comfortably chased down the target with 18 balls to spare. Yashasvi Jaiswal (84*) and Shubman Gill (77) scored half-centuries to help India win.
Every Indian Bowler Was Looking To Take Wickets – Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel lauded the Indian bowlers’ approach, noting that everyone attempted to take wickets despite conceding boundaries.
“India were very smart with their bowling line-up. I thought Arshdeep Singh was brilliant. Though he was hit for a boundary, he came back and bowled a beautiful bouncer to Kyle Mayers.
“Every Indian bowler was looking to take wickets. They were not looking to be defensive, and that’s the reason why India could restrict West Indies to 178, which was a below par score,” Patel concluded.
The fifth and final T20I match between the two teams will be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida on Sunday, August 13.
