Yashasvi Jaiswal played a brilliant innings on the opening day of the second Test in Trinidad. He followed up his 171 with a brilliant 57 with nine fours and a six off just 74 balls. He scored his runs at a strike rate of nearly 80.

Jaiswal added 139 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma (80) after adding a 229-run opening stand in Dominica. The pair seemed to have developed a good understanding in a short space of time.

Jaiswal was his attacking self as he decimated the West Indian attack to all parts of the ground. Aakash Chopra, reviewing the first day’s play on his Youtube channel lauded Rohit and Jaiswal for their opening stand once again.

“Both openers scored half-centuries, whether it was Yashasvi Jaiswal or Rohit Sharma. They had an opening partnership of more than 200 runs in the last match and they had a partnership of more than 100 in this match as well. Yashasvi is batting well, playing good shots. He is an amazing player” said Chopra to start his discussion.

The former Indian batter went on to point out a grave weakness in Jaiswal’a batting approach. Chopra said that the southpaw has a weakness against away-going deliveries and deliveries bowled wide at him. He was dismissed in Dominica while edging a delivery outside off stump. In Trinidad, he chased a wide delivery from Jason Holder and was caught at gully.

Away-Going Deliveries Trouble Him Slightly: Aakash Chopra On Yashasvi Jaiswal

“However, there is one thing. The away-going deliveries trouble him slightly. The expectation will be that he goes from strength to strength but those deliveries will be bowled more to him now and he will have to prepare a little for that, which I am very certain he will. He is that kind of a player” Chopra said on Jaiswal’s weakness outside off stump.

India ended day 1 on 288/4 with Virat Kohli unbeaten on 87 and Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten on 36. The pair added an unbeaten 106-run stand with Kohli closing in on his 29th Test ton.
