Shubman Gill, the right-handed star Indian batsman, finally broke his silence on his off-form in the first three T20I matches against West Indies.

The 23-year-old received a lot of criticism from the cricket pundits, and his stupendous knock against the Caribbeans in the fourth match gave them the answer.

In the first innings of the match, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh led the bowling attack and took a few early wickets which helped them to keep a check on the target.

In the second innings, Gill played 47 deliveries and scored 77 runs with a strike rate of 163.83. He hammered three fours and five sixes.

The Gujarat Titans (GT) star player made a solid partnership of 165 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal. On the other hand, Jaiswal played an 84-run knock in 51 balls with a strike rate of 164.71.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster hit 11 fours and three sixes. The opening duo helped the Men in Blues clinch a nine-wicket win in the fourth T20I match.

While having a chat with Arshdeep Singh after the fourth T20I match, the 23-year-old said that it is important to go by the rules and identify what mistakes one is making. He opened up and said that he was not making any mistakes but was failing to convert his starts.

“It’s important to go to your basics. You have to identify whether you are making any mistakes. I felt I wasn’t making a mistake in any of the three matches. But I couldn’t convert my starts,” Shubman Gill said.

You just look at what your template was: Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill also said that one has to look at their template to see when they were scoring runs after batting failures.

“T20 format is like that. When you have 3-4 matches where a good shot is caught by the fielder, and you have to eye at making quick runs, you don’t have time to think much. You just look at what your template was when you were consistently scoring runs,” Shubman Gill added.

Hardik Pandya-led India will take on Rovman Powell’s West Indies in the series decider match on Sunday (August 13) and it will kick off at 8:00 PM IST.
