Former India wicketkeeper-batsman, Robin Uthappa praised Kuldeep Yadav for making a commendable improvement in his bowling. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets against West Indies in the third T20I match on Tuesday (August 08).

While speaking at Jio Cinema, Robin Uthappa spoke on how Kuldeep Yadav managed to make a comeback and improved his bowling to a level where he can control the pace of his delivery.

“He has got this flighted delivery. It has the same trajectory at the point of delivery. He is able to kind of control the pace of the delivery at that trajectory. I think that’s become one of his biggest strengths today and his biggest improvements that he’s made,” Uthappa on Kuldeep Yadav.

Uthappa compared Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling with Piyush Chawla and said the Mumbai Indians (MI) spinner used to do the same thing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and that is why Chawla managed to take 50 wickets this season.

“You’ve seen Piyush Chawla do the same in the IPL this year. He bowls slower through the air at the same trajectory and which is why he’s second on that list to 50 wickets,” added Uthappa.

Uthappa also said that Kuldeep Yadav has taken his time off and every time he got an opportunity, the China-man spinner showed his worth by taking wickets.

“You got to feel for the guy. He’s kind of waited and bided his time away and not play and every time he’s gotten an opportunity, He has got wickets. You read stuff on Twitter like Oh, man, Kuldeep has performed, he is going to get dropped in the next game. And then, often what’s happened to him in the past and you hope that’s not the case anymore and they move on from that and make him a regular member of the white ball setup,” Uthappa further added on Kuldeep Yadav.

India won their first T20I match in the third game of the five-match series against West Indies by seven wickets. However, Rohit Sharma-less Men in Blues cannot afford to make a mistake in the upcoming two games if they want to clinch a series win against the Caribbeans.
