Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar hailed the batting approach of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gil in the fourth T20I. India won the match by nine wickets to level the series at 2-2 and take it to the decider on Sunday.
Jaiswal and Gill chasing 179 for victory added a 165-run opening stand. While Gil was dismissed for 77, Jaiswal playing his second T20I match stayed unbeaten on 84 and took India home. Tilak Varma was unbeaten on 7 at the other hand.
Jaiswal surpassed Rohit Sharma’s all-time record of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the shortest format of the game. The left-hander became the youngest Indian opener to hit a T20I half-century, surpassing the current captain. He achieved the milestone at the age of 21 years, surpassing Rohit Sharma, who hit a half-century at 22 years against England in 2009.
Gill too after a string of low scores made the most of the opportunity in the fourth T20I. He scored 77 off 47 balls with three fours and five sixes. The right-hander was criticised for not making the most of it after his recent failures, but his fourth T20I knock has shut down all his critics.
Sanjay Manjrekar on Twitter spoke about the fearless batting approach by the two youngsters saying that it is the perfect T20 approach of batting. He said how both the batters did not look to adjust and played their natural shots.

The young Ind batters don’t have to ‘adjust’ to T20s. They are naturals at it. Stay in the moment, see the ball hit the ball. No worrying about getting out, no long terms plans of getting a 50 or a 100. That’s perfect T20 approach! Well done Gill & Jaiswal! ???
