Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra spoke on Sanju Samson’s batting at number 5 in the T20I series against West Indies and said ‘Either you play or you don’t’. Hardik Pandya-led India lost the second T20I match by two wickets against the Caribbeans on Sunday (August 06).

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, the 45-year-old former India batsman said Sanju Samson to grab whatever opportunities he is getting in the squad.

Chopra also said to Sanju Samson’s fans to stop complaining about his position in the batting order and said that there is no place in the top batting order.

Chopra also said that Shubman Gill played bad shots after opening the first inning with Ishan Kishan.

“Sanju Samson played a bad shot. Shubman Gill at the start and Sanju Samson in the middle played bad shots. Sanju Samson and his fans can say that he is getting to bat at the wrong number. But is there a place available at the top? If it’s not there, what can be done?” Chopra said on Sanju Samson.

Aakash Chopra warned Sanju Samson and said him to score runs or else the team management will not include him in the first eleven and that the Keralite will regret it later.

“So you have two options – either you play or you don’t. Try to score runs if you play at those positions or else they won’t play you. 10 overs were left, so you had a chance. If you don’t make the most of your chances, you will regret it later. It may sound unfair, but if a place is not there, how can a place be created?” the former batsman added.

Sanju Samson fails to impress after coming at number 5

In the first T20I game against West Indies on Thursday (August 03), Sanju Samson came at number six and failed to make a mark. The 28-year-old player scored 12 runs after 12 balls in the second inning.

Sanju managed to hammer only six. In the second T20I match on Sunday (August 06), Sanju Samson played a seven-run knock in the first inning and smashed only one four.

India will square off against West Indies in the third T20I match of the five-game series on Tuesday (August 08) at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The match will kick off at 8:00 PM IST.
