Left-handed batsman, Abhinav Mukund spoke on the current opening duo of the Indian Cricket Team and praised Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal for their stupendous inning in the fourth T20I match against West Indies on Saturday (August 12).

In the fourth T20I match, Hardik Pandya-led India beat Rovman Powell’s West Indies by nine wickets to square the five-game series at 2-2.

In the first inning, the Indian bowling attack managed to take early wickets but still conceded 178 runs. However, in the second inning, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a solid 165 runs partnership which helped the visitors in the run chase.

Shubman Gill who was out of form for quite a long time and received plenty of criticism, scored 77 runs from 47 balls. On the other end, 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal played 51 balls and scored 84 runs.

The Men in Blues had a sloppy start to the T20I series and lost the first two matches against West Indies. But the visitors gained momentum and clinched two consecutive victories. Now, the five-match T20I series winner will be decided in the last game.

He described Gill’s knock and said the 23-year-old takes a bit of time to settle and added that Yashasvi starts attacking from the first ball.

Mukund also applauded and said that the Shubman-Yashasvi duo will stay for a long time in the T20I format cricket.

“They are vibing right? I believe that these two are a very good pairing in terms of how they go about their business. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s made his game in such a way that he goes from ball one and likes to attack whatever bowler comes his way. Shubman Gill on the other hand takes a bit of time. If you notice there (IPL), Wriddhiman Saha goes after the bowling in the powerplay. This pairing is really good and it adds to the fact that Yashasvi is left-handed. This is a very good combination and can stay for a really long time to come,” Abhinav Mukund told.

India will take on West Indies in the final and series decider match on Sunday (August 13) at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Florida. The match will kick off at 8:00 PM IST.
