Hardik Pandya as skipper is yet to lose the series but things lined up ahead aren’t easy for them. The Caribbean challenge is waiting for them as they will be locking horns with West Indies in the five-match series, slated to take place from 4th August to 13th August.

BCCI is yet to announce the squad for the series but as per various reports, it is learned that IPL performers will be given opportunities under Hardik Pandya. But as it looks, the challenge won’t be easy for the Indians as West Indies are absolute beasts in the shortest format of the game. 

Having won T20 World Cup two times, it is expected that they won’t give leeway to young Indian players. Quite a few players in the setup have proven their worth in almost every corner of the world and can be a potential threat to the Men in Blue.

Nicholas Pooran 

One of the biggest threats for India will be Nicholas Pooran. The wicket-keeper batter is at his best when it comes to playing against India. He averages 32 in T20Is against them and has many times played some blistering knocks, that have changed the complexion of the game.

The southpaw has been up against India 15 times in the shortest format of the game and in those games he has scored 415 runs at a strike rate of 132.48 to go with 4 fifties as well.

His ability to hit the ball cleanly and change the game in a fraction of a second makes him the biggest threat to the team. Pooran has been in a terrific white-ball form of late and was stupendous even in the IPL 2023. It is expected that he will set the stage on fire in the series against India and Hardik’s Men would be hoping to keep him silent. 

Rovman Powell 

Another West Indies player who can beat India single-handedly in the upcoming T20I series is their skipper in the shortest format of the game Rovman Powell. Time and time again, the all-rounder has proved his mettle in the 20-over format and who can forget when he took the game away from England during the series in 2022?

He smashed a fine century and powered his team to victory. The lanky all-rounder has a good track record against India as well and when these two teams last played against each other, Powell troubled India a lot. In the 13 games, the right-hander has scored 268 runs at a strike rate of around 137 to go with two half-centuries as well. Apart from his threat with the bat, he can chip in with the ball as well and could be handy for his team. 

Kyle Mayers 

Kyle Mayers will be another big threat for India going into the T20I series against West Indies. The all-rounder has risen up the ranks in the last few months and has emerged out to be one of the best all-rounders in the shortest format of the game.

He proved his worth in the IPL 2023 for Lucknow Super Giants as even great like Quinton de Kock was on the bench because of his prowess. Leaving his ability with the bat aside, Mayers is a genuine swing bowler and Indian players traditionally have struggled to counter the moving ball.

He can rattle the batting Indian order quite easily if he’s on the song and can win the game for his side. He has played 7 games against India, scoring 156 runs to go with one half-century.
